Mild Temperatures Today
A strong storm system is lifting northeast through the Upper Great Lakes, resulting in showery, breezy weather in the Finger Lakes.
Rain associated with an influx of warmer air moved in overnight. Most of the steady precipitation is now to the east of the Finger Lakes.
Warm air will continue to work northeast and temperatures in the Finger Lakes should climb through the 40s.
Look for afternoon highs to be near 50 degrees for most areas. Locations near and west of Rochester are more likely to see mid 50s for a time this afternoon.
On and off rain showers will continue to fall with light rain amounts. There should be a lull in the shower activity late this afternoon into the evening. A few breaks of sun will be possible as well.
Gusty winds this morning will decline for the afternoon, but it will still be breezy. The winds will increase again after midnight behind a cold front.
Temperatures will hold in the 40s this evening but will drop back into the 30s behind the cold front.
Seasonable Weekend Temperatures
By Saturday morning, temperatures will have fallen into the mid 30s for most of the region.
Scattered snow showers will be likely during the morning. These should end during the afternoon.
Temperatures will continue to fall during the day, ending up in the upper 20s by dinnertime.
Winds will gust over 30 mph, first from the west, then from the northwest.
Sunday will start near 20 degrees with a few clouds. Skies should turn sunny with high temperatures in the mid 30s. Winds will be light on Sunday.
Another shot of rain is likely Monday night for New Year’s Eve, followed by some flurries for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Temperatures will peak Monday evening in the low 40s with upper 30s for highs on Tuesday and highs near 30 degrees for Wednesday.
