Nice Weekend Ahead

The low pressure system that brought the rain and flooding yesterday is pushing off the New England coast this morning.

Some early morning rain has departed the area, but clouds from this low are still in place.

Dry air will wrap around the backside of the low and out ahead of an inbound high pressure system. That should erode the cloud cover some this morning.

The afternoon will have a mix of sun and clouds. A few isolated showers will pop up as cold air aloft interacts with the heating of the ground. Any showers should be brief and many areas will not see additional rain. No flooding is expected from these showers, even if they produce some heavier rain for a few minutes.

Temperatures today will fall just short of 70 degrees for most of the area. Northwest winds will gust between 25-35 mph, especially from the late morning into the afternoon.

A few showers may linger into the evening but should gradually dissipate.

Saturday and Sunday should both be dry with just some puffy fair-weather clouds during the latter morning and afternoon hours.

Temperatures Saturday will be near 70 degrees with blustery northwest winds continuing. Sunday will rise into the mid 70s with light winds.

Looking at Next Week

Nice weather should continue into Monday. Winds will turn more southerly out ahead of the next system. That should give temperatures a boost into the low 80s. Humidity levels should be comfortable much of the day but will increase late.

Rain showers will move in Monday night and linger through the first part of Tuesday. Dry conditions are expected by the afternoon.

Temperatures Tuesday will top out around 80 degrees.

Wednesday will warm back into the 80s with some higher humidity. This could touch off a few afternoon showers and storms. The chances for rain look to be less on Thursday, but at this early stage, it is uncertain.

Thankfully, though, it does not look like there will be any major storm systems during the week.
