Sunday Evening Thunderstorms

A couple of severe thunderstorms are ongoing as they rumble across the Finger Lakes Sunday evening.

8:30 PM Sunday Evening-

Thunderstorms are building north from a severe thunderstorm watch over northern Pennsylvania and have crept into the southern Finger Lakes. Other storms are also developing along the I-390 Corridor.

A couple of severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued, mainly for the threat of damaging winds. Frequent lightning and heavy rain will also accompany these storms. The severe threat should be limited to the next hour or so, after which the storms will lose the daytime heating and weaken.

Still, a few showers and storms will continue to be possible through the night as a disturbance moves through the region.

The storm came through Thurston around 7:30-8:00 with hail – some of it about 1-inch diameter! Impressive to watch and to listen to .
