Live Snow Map Creation & Snow Q&A at 8:30 PM

Join FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil as he reviews the latest data for the upcoming snow event Saturday afternoon and evening (January 6, 2024), creates his snow map live and on screen, and answers your questions.

The video should start below at 8:30 PM via the main broadcast on Facebook. Before the video starts, there may be nothing showing. For the best viewing experience, or if problems are encountered here, visit the Facebook feed.

This is an experimental feature, so if technology does not cooperate, I apologize in advance. A recording will be available after, as well as another blog post Saturday morning.

I am confused…is this only available on FACEBOOK? I have never and will never use that site, but want to participate in FLX reporting.

Yes, I used Facebook’s live video streaming service for that video since I have over 20,000 followers on the site. I do understand that not everyone uses Facebook, however, and was hoping to be able to post the video natively or through Youtube onto my site. However, I failed to hit ‘record’ on my software, and thus lost that ability.

Be sure to check out this morning’s blog post for all the pertinent storm information, though. The video gave a behind-the-scenes look at my process, but the forecast information that people need to stay safe is here on my site. I feel very strongly about not putting any information on Facebook that my website users would be at a disadvantage if they missed it, and my business model is centered around my website, not my social channels.

That was very educational Drew! Thank you for taking us through your process for creating a snow/weather map.

Thanks, I have a trip out of Ithaca on Sunday morning so this is helpful information. Seems like luck of the draw whether snow is mainly finishing on Sunday AM and whether Delta decides to make getting out a priority…. thanks again.

On the Eastern edge of Finger Lakes, towards Norwich, how does the snow map look?

I kept that area in the 4-8″ with locally higher amounts zone… but I think it will be on the high end of that range.

Whatever you put for Ithaca it will be twice that up in Enfield.
