Quick Weather Updates
Finger Lakes Weather is back online after about a 36-hour downtime.
The downtime was caused by a server configuration beyond my control. During the downtime, the website and app were down, and I was unable to access my email list.
Moving along, now.
Several snow squalls have been moving through the Finger Lakes this afternoon. The worst of the weather should be departing to the east during the mid-afternoon hours.
Still, occasional snow showers and a few briefly heavier bursts will be possible for the remainder of the day and through the evening and overnight hours. Instead of widespread areas of snow, like the squalls so far today, these other snow showers will be more isolated and should last for smaller amounts of time.
Additional snowfall after sunset tonight will range from a coating to a localized inch or so. A few roads may get slick, but significant travel issues are not expected.
Thursday will be windy, especially in the morning, when northwest winds may gust as high as 40 mph. The wind will weaken in the afternoon and especially after sunset.
A few lingering snow showers will be possible early on before mostly cloudy skies the rest of the day. It will be cool with highs in the upper 20s and low 30s.
Friday will be quiet until a low pressure moves through the area Friday Night into Saturday. This system has some buzz with it, but the chances for significant snow are very low in our area.
It would require a very perfect alignment of storm path and just cool enough temperatures to produce significant snow, and I highly doubt that happens.
Instead, I expect snow through Friday night and early Saturday, mixing with some sleet and rain at times. Most areas will probably see little more than a coating to two inches of sloppy snow accumulation.
Sunny weather will return on Sunday with mild temperatures expected next week.
I’ll be back on my normal morning update schedule Thursday. Thank you for your patience during the outage!
