Scattered Storms
A weak area of low pressure is moving through Ontario, Canada, and will pass to our north today.
This low will drag a cold front through the region, leading to some showers and storms today.
Most areas should remain dry through the morning and early afternoon, though a stray shower or storm cannot be totally ruled out. Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds during this time.
South-southwest winds will blow with speeds up to 10 mph, helping nudge temperatures along into the mid 80s for most areas. Dewpoints will be well into the mid and upper 60s, making it feel muggy, too.
Showers and storms will begin to become more common during the second half of the afternoon, lingering into the early evening hours.
Individual storm cells may grow into small clusters of storms as they track east across the area. Most places should see some rain, but there are bound to be gaps in the coverage that miss out.
Severe weather is not expected to be a major concern today, though some of the storms may cycle stronger and weaker, occasionally producing some strong wind gusts or even a little small hail. Brief downpours and lightning will also be minor concerns.
Precipitation should move east and dissipate this evening, though a few stray spits of rain cannot be ruled out overnight and into very early Thursday morning. Overnight lows will drop to the low 60s.
A fresh northwest wind will develop on Thursday behind the cold front, dropping dewpoints and temperatures. Most areas will not see 80 degrees tomorrow with dewpoints falling into the 50s by the afternoon.
Thursday will have a mix of sun and a few fair weather clouds, but outside of the small chance for an early shower, no rain is expected.
Staying Dry
A dominating high pressure system will move in and through the region over the course of several days, bringing an extended period of dry weather.
Friday will have plenty of sunshine and highs around 80 degrees. Winds will be light from the northwest before becoming calm Friday evening as the moves overhead.
Temperatures will be on the cooler side Friday night with overnight lows in the mid 50s.
Winds will remain nearly calm on Saturday with sunshine, a few clouds, and highs in the low 80s.
By Sunday, the high will be to our southeast. Winds will turn southerly, and temperatures will make a leap upward. Look for highs in the mid and upper 80s with mostly sunny skies. Dewpoints will remain comfortably low.
Humidity will start to increase on Monday with temperatures remaining in the upper 80s to perhaps near 90 degrees. There could be a stray pop-up shower or storm, but the vast majority of the region should remain dry.
Precipitation chances will inch upward on Tuesday, though again, most areas will remain dry. Temperatures will take a small hit with an increase in clouds with highs in the mid 80s. By then, it will be muggy with dewpoints back in the mid and upper 60s.
The best chance for rain next week looks to be Wednesday, though some scattered showers will continue to be possible into the late week and weekend. Temperatures will remain warm and dewpoints will continue to be elevated well into early August.
