Isolated Spits of Rain
High pressure will build into the region over the next couple of days, but a few subtle impulses of atmospheric energy will also be present.
The result is a forecast that cannot quite guarantee dry weather but comes pretty close.
The skies are mixed at sunrise Tuesday morning, with some parts of the region locked into some low clouds, while others are mostly sunny.
Our skies should become more uniform as the morning goes on and some of the early morning cloudiness burns off. At the same time, though, fair weather clouds will develop. The result will be a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, though the fair weather clouds may be numerous at times.
During the second half of the afternoon, a stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out. These will especially be possible in the counties bordering Pennsylvania. Areas that do see rain will only see a very brief, very light amounts. The overwhelming majority of the region will not see anything.
Temperatures today will be a bit warmer than yesterday with highs in the mid and upper 70s. A light north wind will blow, and humidity levels will remain low.
Mostly clear skies are expected tonight with overnight lows in the mid and upper 50s. A few of the typically warmer lake shores and urban centers may stay at 60 degrees.
Wednesday will be much the same as today, only warmer.
Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds, and the very small chance for rain will again develop in the afternoon. This time, the most favored area for a shower is along and east of I-81.
Most areas will be at or above 80 degrees. Dewpoints will remain comfortably low in the 55-60 degree range.
Another clear night is expected with lows around 60 degrees.
Thursday will give us one final day of this pattern. The rain chances on Thursday may be even lower than Tuesday or Wednesday, if that is possible without going completely to zero.
Temperatures and dewpoints on Thursday will be similar to Wednesday.
Unsettled Weather
The dry weather and sunshine will not survive to the weekend as a slow-moving weather system builds into the region.
The daytime hours on Friday should remain dry, albeit with an increase in cloud cover during the afternoon. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Showers and storms will become possible Friday night, especially after midnight. Exactly how Friday night evolves will likely depend on daytime thunderstorm development over the Upper Great Lakes and Canada.
Numerous showers and storms are expected on Saturday, likely coming in multiple rounds. There may be some dry time between rounds, but it is too early to be certain of how the day evolves or what times may have a higher chance for dry weather.
Unsettled weather will persist into Sunday, though the chances for thunderstorms will likely decrease. Again, the exact evolution of the day is uncertain this far out, but the showers may be numerous.
Monday is less certain, but should still have at least a few showers about and could very well follow closely in Saturday and Sunday’s steps.
Temperatures will begin to retreat again with the clouds and showers. Highs will be in the mid and upper 70s through the weekend, with low and mid 70s on Monday, pending the steadiness of the showers.
Much of next week also looks unsettled, but the models are too chaotic to pinpoint specific rainy days. As long as it remains cloudy and showery, highs will stick to the 70s.
