Moderating Temperatures

Clear skies and light winds have allowed temperatures to fall and most of the region is starting the day below zero.

Much of today will end up like yesterday with a good deal of sunshine but cold temperatures. Highs will mostly be in the low and mid 10s again, with a few higher elevations in the single digits.

Skies will remain clear this morning with a gradual increase in clouds later this afternoon. With the increase in clouds will be a shift in the winds to the south.

Wind speeds will remain light until after sunset, when they will increase to around 10 mph. Some hilltops may have slightly higher wind speeds.

With overcast skies this evening and the south wind, temperatures will only drop a couple degrees early in the evening. For the rest of the night, temperatures will remain steady or rise a couple degrees. Most areas should start Thursday about where they were this afternoon.

Skies will be mixed on Thursday, though clouds will be more plentiful than sunshine. A couple stray snow showers will be possible late in the afternoon and into the evening and overnight hours. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Highs Thursday will jump to the mid 20s with south winds near 10 mph persisting. Temperatures Thursday night will drop to the mid 10s.

Friday will be just a couple degrees cooler than Thursday with highs mainly in the low 20s. A few scattered snow showers will continue to be possible, again with little to no meaningful accumulation.

Winds Friday will turn to the northwest with similar wind speeds.
