Cold Front Late Today
Several rounds of precipitation have moved through the Finger Lakes since yesterday afternoon as warm air pushes toward the region.
The bulk of the rain from this weather maker is now over, however, with just a few more showers here and there today.
After early morning showers depart, the next best chance for rain will be a small, broken line of brief showers along the cold front during the mid to late afternoon. Not all areas will see rain from this, and those that do will only see small amounts.
Temperatures will still undergo some changes, though. After rising overnight, an additional jump up is expected today.
Afternoon highs will top out near or slightly above 70 degrees for many areas. Typically warmer urban and valley locations could make a run at the mid 70s, especially if the clouds thin enough to allow some filtered sunshine through.
Winds will be from the southwest, remaining blustery, though not quite as strong as overnight. The wind will turn to the west late this afternoon and the northwest late this evening.
Temperatures will linger in the 50s this evening before dropping through the 40s once the wind turns to the northwest. Morning lows Friday should be around 40 degrees.
Skies Friday will be mostly cloudy. There may be some occasional periods of partial sunshine, especially over the northern half of the region, but they should generally be brief.
Winds will remain from the northwest but will be light. Afternoon highs will be in the low and mid 50s.

Active Weather Pattern
Another round of active weather will move in for the weekend.
Rain will spread back into the area before dawn Saturday and continue into the morning hours. Showers are likely in the afternoon as well, but should be a bit more scattered than the morning.
A few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out, either, especially with the morning precipitation. Some areas could see over an inch of rain on Saturday.
Strong south-southeast winds will return as well with gusts of 35-45 mph widespread and some isolated higher elevation gusts around or even over 50 mph. Winds should peak during the midday hours.
Temperatures will top out in the upper 50s on Saturday. A nighttime cold front will knock temperatures back to the low 40s by Sunday morning.
Rain showers will also be possible on Sunday, but mainly in the morning hours. The day may end with a little sunshine.
Winds will be from the northwest, holding temperatures in the low 40s throughout the day.
Monday will be the quiet day between systems, with clouds, some sun, and highs in the mid 40s.
Precipitation will move back in on Tuesday, likely falling as snow with highs locked into the 30s. Some mainly minor accumulation will be possible.
Tuesday will also have another round of strong winds.
Wednesday will remain cool with a few morning snow showers and highs around 40 degrees.
Temperatures should gradually warm late next week with warm favored over cold for the following week as we pass through mid-April.
