Early Week Weather
An area of low pressure over Wisconsin this morning will weaken as it heads northeast into eastern Canada over the next 24-36 hours.
Southerly flow ahead of this system and behind an area of high pressure off the coast of New England will cause warm air to move back into the region.
As the warmer air moves in, some scattered showers will be possible from time to time today.
Several rounds of isolated to scattered showers will be possible, especially during the mid to late morning and mid to late afternoon. The best chance for rain may not come until the evening, though.
A few of the showers could be accompanied by a couple rumbles of thunder. Individual showers should be rather short-lived, though, and most areas will not be seeing rain at any given time. Some areas will probably make it through the daytime hours completely dry.
The southerly winds will be on the blustery side, with speeds over 15 mph and gusts between 30-40 mph.
Temperatures will respond by ranging through the 60s despite mostly cloudy skies.
The warmest temperatures will be found in the Genesee Valley and Rochester area with upper 60s. Mid 60s will be widespread through most of the remainder of the region, with low 60s in some higher elevations and along the shore of Lake Ontario.
A more widespread area of showers is expected this evening as a cold front moves through. Most of the rain should be over by midnight with clearing skies thereafter. Overnight lows will stick to the 40s.
Tuesday will have abundant sunshine and just a few clouds from time to time, especially early on.
Winds will be steady from the west, turning to the northwest during the afternoon. Wind speeds and gusts will mainly be under 15 and 30 mph respectively, except perhaps for a brief time during the morning north of the Thruway.
Temperatures will vary quite a bit on Tuesday from north to south. Mid 50s for highs are expected north of the Thruway, with temperatures gradually warming with southward extent. The Southern Tier may hold on to some mid 60s.

Quiet, Mild Weather
The weather Tuesday into Wednesday will be influenced by high pressure over Canada.
Wednesday will turn out similar to Tuesday as a result, with a good deal of sunshine, and a north-south temperature gradient across the region. While the areas north of the Thruway and across the Southern Tier will see nearly the same temperatures as Tuesday, the middle areas of the region should see a small increase in temperature.
By Thursday, a new area of high pressure will develop along the New England coast. This will bring a southerly flow back to the region.
Warmer air will move in, pushing highs into the 70s on Thursday. There will be a few more clouds than Tuesday and Wednesday and a couple stray showers cannot be totally ruled out.
As the high pressure becomes better established on Friday, the small chances for rain will disappear. Sunshine will mix with some increasing cloud cover as a low pressure approaches from the west.
High temperatures on Friday should once again be into the 70s.
Widespread rain is likely sometime on Saturday, with models currently favoring the morning hours. This rain will be associated with a cold front that will knock the high pressure system out to sea.
Temperatures will top out in the low 60s on Saturday with a return to mid 50s on Sunday.
The cool down will be brief with 70s possible again by the middle of next week.
