Mid-Week Weather
A pair of high pressure systems will take over our weather for the rest of the work week.
Clouds lingering behind a cold front are over the area this morning, but skies should gradually turn brighter. The afternoon should have a good deal of sunshine as the first high pressure builds in.
This high is centered over Canada near the Hudson Bay, a position which will keep our winds from the northwest today.
Wind speeds will be strongest this morning and early in the afternoon, with areas along and north of I-90 seeing the gustiest winds. A few of those gusts may reach 35 mph while the rest of the region should top out near or under 30 mph.
Temperatures will be a bit cooler today, but not too chilly. Look for highs to range from the mid 50s along the shore of Lake Ontario to the mid 60s in the valleys of the Southern Tier. Most of the area will end up somewhere around 60 degrees.
Skies will be mostly clear tonight, allowing temperatures to dip into the 30s. Cold pockets may approach the low 30s, but most areas will be at or above 35 degrees.
Wednesday will be sunny with some occasional thin clouds mixing in. Winds will be light, if not nearly calm, coming in from the north.
The lack of wind and abundance of sunshine will allow temperatures to add a few degrees, with most areas seeing highs in the mid 60s.
The second high pressure will develop and strengthen to our east, turning winds more southerly Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures will start Thursday in the 40s with highs jumping into the mid 70s.
As the warmer air bumps up against the cooler air overhead today and tomorrow, a few stray showers or light thunderstorms may pop up in the afternoon. Most areas will not see rain, though.

Weekend Weather Forecast
Friday will be a very similar day to Thursday. After starting around 50 degrees, highs will be well into the 70s.
Sunshine will mix with clouds and a few late showers or maybe a thunderstorm will be possible.
The chances for rain will increase Friday night into early Saturday as a widespread batch of rain accompanies a cold front. All areas will see rain with amounts averaging around a half inch, but possibly locally higher.
The rain will mainly fall in the morning, but a few showers may linger into the early afternoon.
Temperatures Saturday will start out around 50 degrees and top out near 60 degrees.
Some clouds will linger into Sunday morning with lows near 40 degrees. Sunshine will increase, though, with highs in the low 60s. Northwest winds may be a bit gusty in the morning, but lighter in the afternoon.
Monday should also be quiet with sun and clouds. Highs will reach the upper 60s after temperatures start out near 40 degrees.
Quiet weather may extend into Tuesday. While very early, Wednesday looks potentially interesting from a thunderstorm perspective as the next system rolls through with temperatures well into the 70s.
Temperatures late next week should remain in the 60s with overnight lows well into the 40s.
