Late Week Weather
High pressure will continue to keep our weather quiet while temperatures start to rise.
This high pressure system is directly overhead this morning, bringing mostly clear skies and light to calm winds.
There will be little change from that throughout the day today as the high slowly slides eastward.
Temperatures will generally be a few degrees warmer than yesterday, ranging from around 70 degrees through the valleys of the Southern Tier to the mid 60s across most of the region. Along the shore of Lake Ontario, a lake breeze will hold temperatures in the 50s.
Winds will turn to the south tonight as the high moves over New England. Temperatures will remain in the 40s, likely rising a few degrees during the predawn hours. Skies will remain mostly clear with a few thin clouds.
Thursday will be sunny with some clouds mixing in at times. A stray shower cannot be totally ruled out near Lake Ontario, but even areas that manage to see a little rain will be dry the vast majority of the day.
Winds will remain gentle, shifting from the south to the southwest and eventually west.
Temperatures will make another jump upward with highs ranging through the 70s, even along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Some of the typically warmer valleys of the Southern Tier may hit 80 degrees.
It will remain mild through the night with lows sticking to the 50s. Skies will be mixed through the night with just a small chance for a stray shower toward dawn Friday.
There will be an increase in clouds on Friday, but still plenty of sunshine, too. A few scattered showers and storms will be possible, especially over the western half of the region late in the day. Not all areas will see rain.
Southerly winds will return with a slight increase in speed. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s with a few pockets of upper 70s.

Weather This Weekend, Next Week
Rain chances will increase substantially Friday night into early Saturday as a cold front moves through. All areas should see rain during this time, with amounts averaging out to around half an inch.
The steadiest rain should move out early Saturday, but occasional showers will still be possible through the day.
Blustery northwest winds will set up behind the front with wind speeds approaching 20 mph and gusts around 40 mph.
Temperatures will lose a few degrees over the course of the day, starting out in the mid 50s but ending up in the low 50s for the afternoon.
Skies will clear out Saturday night with lows around 40 degrees. Sunday will be mostly sunny but still a bit breezy. Highs will generally be in the mid and upper 50s.
Sunny skies are expected to persist into Monday with winds turning back to the south. Temperatures will jump back to near 70 degrees.
Tuesday will be even warmer with highs in the upper half of the 70s at least. There may be a stray shower or storm late, with an increasing chance for showers and possibly thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Temperatures will drop again late in the week with highs around 60 degrees. The precipitation forecast for the end of next week into the following weekend is too uncertain to speculate on much at this time.
