Before the Front
High pressure has slid to our east, turning our winds to the south.
Warmer air has started to push into the area already this morning. Along the leading edge of the warm air, a couple stray showers popped up early this morning. Those are now off to the east and skies have cleared across much of the area.
Occasional clouds will still be possible through the morning with some fair weather cumulus clouds bubbling up this afternoon. A stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out, but the chances are very low.
Light south winds will remain steady through the morning before turning westerly this afternoon. Wind speeds will remain under 10 mph.
Temperatures will shoot up into the 75-80 degree range today. Temperatures will be a bit cooler along the shore of Lake Ontario, but still into the 70s.
Skies will clear this evening, but new clouds will build in after midnight. A predawn shower will be possible, but again, hard to come by.
Overnight lows will be mainly in the 50s as light south winds become reestablished.
Friday will be cloudier than today with an increased chance for rain. The chances will be highest from the mid afternoon into the evening, though not everyone will see rain. A few thunderstorms will also be possible.
South winds will remain light, supporting another very warm day. The increase in clouds will prevent temperatures from matching today, though. Look for highs mainly in the mid 70s with pockets of upper 70s.
Temperatures Friday evening will retreat into the low 60s with upper 50s overnight. Areas of rain will become widespread overnight as the cold front approaches.

When people discover I’m an independent, local meteorologist, they immediately ask: “How does that work? How do you get paid?”
The answer is simple – a dedicated team of monthly donors has kept FLX Weather running for over a decade, with some incredible supporters contributing every single month for 10+ years!
While I often joke that “I’m not getting rich, but it works,” the reality has become challenging. Recent research revealed the salary I pay myself falls below the 10th percentile for meteorologists with my education and experience in our region—less than half the median salary.
With rising costs impacting both business operations and personal expenses, we’ve reached a critical threshold. For the first time since 2020, I’m launching a dedicated Fund Drive to ensure Finger Lakes Weather remains financially viable.
My goal: 50 new monthly donors by April 30th! Even small $5 monthly contributions make a tremendous difference in maintaining the accurate, hyper-local forecasts you depend on.
Visit the 2025 Spring Fund Drive page for details, or jump straight to the donation form to join the team today!
“I’m confident whatever your donation is, it will be worth every penny!”

Weather This Weekend, Next Week
Rain will continue to be possible throughout Saturday, though to what extent is still a bit uncertain.
There will probably be a lull of some sort between the cold front early in the day and the low pressure passing by during the afternoon. If the low is far enough north, most of the secondary precipitation associated with it may also pass to our north.
Those with outdoor plans on Saturday will want to check in with tomorrow‘s post for an update on how Saturday might evolve.
Temperatures will fall on Saturday, ending up in the low 50s for the afternoon. Northwest winds will become established and may be a bit gusty. Top gusts should be near or under 30 mph, though.
Sunday will be windier with gusts up to 35 mph, especially in the morning.
However, it will be a sunny day as high pressure slides in. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 50s.
Sunshine will persist on Monday with temperatures jumping around 10 degrees to the upper 60s.
Another frontal system will approach the area late Tuesday. While uncertain, a round of thunderstorms may be possible with the front. There will certainly be some heat and humidity to work with after an afternoon with highs around 80 degrees and dewpoints rising into the 60s.
Temperatures will be knocked back again behind the front with highs Wednesday around 60 degrees. While uncertain due to the timing of the front, a few showers may be possible in the day, followed by increasing sunshine.
Late next week and next weekend, temperatures will most likely stick to the 60s. Another system may bring some rain on Friday.
