Weather This Week

Our rainy weather pattern will be interrupted today and tomorrow by dry conditions.

Today, Memorial Day, will be almost completely dry. There is just a very small chance for a stray, brief shower popping up this afternoon. Even if this happens, any rain that falls would probably not even be enough to totally wet the pavement.

Temperatures will be a bit warmer today than yesterday, though a light northerly flow will put a cap on how warm it gets. Most areas will see mid and perhaps upper 60s. A few of the typically warmer valley locations may hit 70 degrees.

Clouds will increase tonight and a light southerly flow will develop. Overnight lows will be in the mid 40s, but may rise a couple degrees by sunrise. Tuesday will be cloudy with some filtered sun and highs in the low 70s.

Rain will return on Wednesday, though how quickly it moves in is still uncertain. The further southwest you are, the sooner it will start to rain and the cooler it will be. Some parts of the Southern Tier will be in the 50s, while the northeastern areas should be well into the 60s.

Showers and periods of rain are expected Thursday and Friday. How this evolves is uncertain at this time, but rain is highly likely on both days. Highs will be in the upper 60s.

Rain showers may linger into Saturday, but this is even more uncertain this far in advance. Sunday, however, has a greater chance at turning out dry.

Temperatures will be in the low 60s Saturday and the mid 60s on Sunday.

Overnight lows for much of the week will remain in the 50s.

Have a safe Memorial Day and please take a moment to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom — today is a day not only for celebration, but also solemn reflection and remembrance.

I’ll be back on my full posting schedule tomorrow morning.

I would like to know how many rainy/cloudy days we have had in Ithaca since March began. Or how many days of sun. How many rainy weekends? So many leaves don’t seem full green yet. What about pollination? Do you keep that kind of data?
