Mid-Week Weather Forecast
A couple of waves of scattered showers and thunderstorms will pass through over the next few days.
While rain will be possible daily for the rest of the week, the vast majority of the time it will not be raining, and some isolated areas may not see any rain for the rest of the week.
The rain today will primarily be limited to the late afternoon and early evening hours. Isolated to scattered showers are expected mainly south of I-90, favoring the western Finger Lakes before sunset and the eastern areas after.
Otherwise, it will be a cloudy but quiet day.
A steady but light southerly flow will have temperatures mainly in the mid and upper 70s this afternoon. Dewpoints will remain in the 60s, so not overly humid but a touch muggy to those who are sensitive to humidity.
It will be a mild night with showers departing, but clouds sticking around. Overnight lows will be in the mid 60s.
Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday, especially during the afternoon.
The best chance for thunderstorms seems to be over the northwestern Finger Lakes.
Temperatures will rise into the low and mid 80s with dewpoints getting a bit uncomfortable as they approach 70 degrees.
Wednesday night will also be warm with lows in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
Thursday will start and end with a mix of clouds and some sun. A midday cold front may touch off a few showers and storms, a couple which could become strong over the eastern Finger Lakes. Most of the storms and severe weather is expected to be to our east on Thursday.
Temperatures will top out near 80 degrees. Winds will turn westerly during the afternoon and become strong, with speeds around 20 mph and localized gusts topping 50 mph, especially in the northwestern Finger Lakes.

Heating Up
Temperatures will be knocked back a little behind Thursday’s front. After winds die down Thursday evening, the nighttime temperatures will dip into the upper 50s.
Friday will have some sun between clouds and highs in the upper 70s. A few late showers may be possible, but this remains uncertain.
There is a reasonable hope that Saturday will be dry with temperatures starting to climb again. Mid and even upper 80s will be possible under a mix of sun and clouds.
The weather starts to get hot on Sunday, with a few places approaching 90 degrees and the rest in the upper 80s.
Dewpoints will become high as well, pushing well into the 70s, making it feel oppressive. Heat Index values should be well into the 90s on Sunday.
A morning warm front may bring a few showers and thunderstorms early Sunday or even before sunrise. The rest of the day should be dry.
The heat will approach hazardous levels on Monday with most areas rising into the 90s. Dewpoints will be in the mid and even upper 70s, pushing heat index values near or above 100 degrees.
Coming on the heels of a cool start to June and a cool May, the sudden change to intense heat and humidity will be tough on all of us, but especially the elderly, young, and those in poor health. Nighttime temperatures in the 70s will provide very little overnight relief.
Hot weather will persist into at least Tuesday and possibly the middle of next week as well. Some models even carry highs near 90 all the way through the workweek.
Dry weather is expected early in the week, with gradually increasing chances for showers and storms as the week goes on.
