Temperatures Moderate
Winds have shifted to the northwest behind a subtle frontal boundary, ending the hazardous heat across our region.
It will still be plenty warm today, with most areas climbing into the mid 80s. Dewpoints will be restricted to the 60s, which should keep heat index values below 90 degrees.
Most areas will remain dry today with a mix of sun and clouds. The best chance for a few stray showers and maybe a thunderstorm will be across the Southern Tier, and especially from around Bath and westward.
The northwest winds will remain light with speeds around 5 mph.
Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies are expected this evening with an increase in clouds during the predawn hours. A few showers may even be possible prior to sunrise.
Like the daytime hours, it will still be warm, but not as much as it has been. Most areas should see lows in the mid 60s.
Showers will increase Thursday morning but should mostly move out for the afternoon. A rumble of thunder or two is possible.
Temperatures will top out around 80 degrees, with temperatures several degrees above 80 in the broad valleys of the Southern Tier, but mainly in the mid 70s north of I-90.
Friday will have similar temperatures with morning lows in the mid 60s and afternoon highs around 80 degrees.
The chances for rain and thunderstorms will be higher on Friday, though the activity will still be scattered. The morning and midday have a slightly higher chance for rain than the afternoon. The evening hours, at this time, are looking dry.

Summery Pattern
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will again be possible on Saturday. The timing of the rain is a bit uncertain, and may once again focus more on the morning hours than the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise into the low 80s after a morning low in the upper 60s.
Sunday is still looking mostly dry, though a stray spit of rain cannot be completely ruled out. Temperatures will continue to nudge upward, reaching the mid 80s.
Monday will be hot with many areas in the upper 80s. A few hot-spots could even hit 90 degrees.
No rain is expected at this time, with a mix of sun and clouds.
A cold front is expected on Tuesday with showers and storms. Early indications are that there will be upper level winds capable of organizing the storms into a strong line, though the timing and location of such an event is highly uncertain and not at all guaranteed.
That should be our one shot of meaningful rain next week, with quiet weather expected behind the front. Temperatures will likely retreat to the 70s for a day or two around the 4th of July.
