Cold Front Wednesday

Hot but not overly humid weather will continue for a couple more days before a cold front on Wednesday.

Today will turn out very similar to yesterday.

Skies will be mostly sunny with a light southerly breeze blowing. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s and low 90s, but dewpoints will remain in the upper 50s and low 60s.

The lack of humidity will make the heat feel a bit less oppressive than usual and will help keep the minimal cloud cover limited to mainly thin clouds.

Temperatures will drop steadily this evening in the dry environment, with lows in the mid and upper 60s.

Dewpoints will come up a little on Tuesday, but overall, it should still feel like a rather dry heat.

Tuesday’s highs will be a degree or two warmer than today, with more areas at or above 90 degrees.

There should be a bit more in the way of fair-weather clouds Tuesday afternoon, and a few stray spits of rain cannot be totally ruled out. The best chance for stray showers will be west of Seneca Lake.

The cold front will arrive on Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms. While the rain will be welcome by many, it will probably not make a major dent in the overall dryness of the last couple weeks.

There is still uncertainty in the timing of the front and subsequent thunderstorms, but the early to mid afternoon looks most likely at this point.

Severe weather is generally not expected, though a couple storms may have some briefly gusty periods.

It will feel notably more humid on Wednesday with dewpoints shooting into the low 70s. High temperatures, however, will be limited to the mid 80s.

Heat Bounces Back Briefly

Temperatures will retreat a bit further for Thursday, with afternoon highs mainly in the low 80s.

Low humidity will dominate again, leading to another mostly sunny day like today.

Thursday’s winds will be from the northwest, but should remain under 10 mph.

Friday will have light and variable winds, allowing temperatures to make it into the mid 80s. It will be a bit more humid, but not oppressively so, with dewpoints in the mid 60s.

This should provide support for a typical summertime sky with small fair weather clouds mixing with the sunshine.

Humidity levels will remain similar for Saturday, but temperatures will rise to around 90 degrees. Fair weather clouds will again develop, but no rain is expected.

The next front will move through on Sunday, likely with some showers and storms.

It will be hot and muggy ahead of the front on Sunday, but cooler behind. Most days next week will have highs between 75-85 degrees.
