Wednesday, February 11, 2026

A spray of lake effect snow Wednesday and Wednesday night will bring highly varying snow accumulations to the region. Embedded squalls later in the day and the evening, including potentially some enhancement off Cayuga and Seneca Lake, further complicate the picture. Gusty winds will also cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

While I usually do not opt to create snow maps for smaller snow events, in this case, the regional variety was easier to capture in a picture than trying to describe it over and over again in each time period below. The snow will gradually develop during the morning, then remain consistent throughout the day and nighttime hours.

Temperatures will be warm enough that elevation and daylight will be a factor in snow accumulations. Expect more accumulation over lake effect prone higher elevations than at lower elevations, and more snow accumulation and travel impacts at night than during the day.
