Precipitation over the coming days will be limited to some lake effect snow showers this morning, and a few spits of precipitation this weekend. Temperatures will warm through Saturday, then turn sharply colder on Sunday ahead of another gradual warming trend.
Thursday
What: Scattered morning lake effect snow showers
Impacts: Little if any
Snow showers this morning will gradually dissipate as they shift northward this morning. Little if any additional accumulation is expected, and most roads should remain in decent or good shape. Sun and clouds are expected this afternoon with highs averaging around 30 degrees. Skies will become clear tonight with light winds and lows around 20 degrees.

Friday
What: Sunny, warmer
South winds will help push temperatures above 40 degrees on Friday with many places ending up in the mid 40s. Wind speeds will remain light during the day, but will turn gusty after sunset. Skies will be sunny and clear through the day with increasing clouds at night. With the strong south wind and increasing clouds, overnight temperatures will only drop to the upper 30s.
Saturday
What: A few morning spits of rain, then sun and clouds
Winds will shift throughout Saturday, turning to the southwest in the morning, the west by midday, and the northwest during the afternoon. A few spits of rain cannot be ruled out during the morning hours especially. Some breaks of sun should poke through, mostly during the afternoon. Winds will not be as strong as Friday night.
Temperatures will make it back into the mid 40s by midday, but may start to drop a little through the afternoon. A more substantial drop is expected after sunset as a final cold front moves through. Overnight lows will end up in the low 20s with a few overnight snow showers. A few patches of black ice may be possible from snowmelt that freezes with the temperature drop.
Sunday
What: Much colder, a few flurries
Impacts: Little to no accumulation, travel concerns
North and northwest winds will hold temperatures mostly steady on Sunday, meaning afternoon highs will be around twenty-five degrees cooler than Saturday in the low 20s. Clouds will be plentiful as the cold air crosses the waters of Lake Ontario. The atmosphere looks dry, but a few snow showers cannot be ruled out.
Monday
What: Sun and/or clouds, high uncertainty
A small weather system is expected to pass across the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday, well to our south. Still, it may be close enough for cloud cover, even if precipitation is unlikely. Temperatures are unlikely to improve much with this system to our south. Morning lows will be well down into the 10s and afternoon highs will be in the lower half of the 20s.
Tuesday
What: Possibly some late rain or snow, highly uncertain
Warmer air will start to push back on Tuesday, which could lead to some rain or snow showers, especially late in the day. After another cold start in the 10s, afternoon highs should end up somewhere in the 30s.
Extended Outlook
A period of mild to warm weather is expected to build in during the later half of next week with a possibility it may extend and intensify over next weekend and into the following week. While the signal for warmth is strong, exactly how warm is still highly uncertain.
