After a mix of sun and clouds today, a parade of small weather systems will bring some occasional minor precipitation through the area daily into the weekend. Temperatures will go on a gradual warming trend over this time period, then get reset by a cold front on Sunday.

Wednesday

What: Sun and clouds

Today’s weather will be quiet with light winds and a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures are still on the cool side, but not as cold as yesterday. The fine details of today’s forecast can be found in last night’s Weather Planner post should you need them.

Thursday

What: A few morning flurries, a few more afternoon rain and snow showers.

There will be two main periods of precipitation on Thursday, though neither will be heavy. Eastern areas are generally more favored than western ones for seeing any precipitation at all. The first will be between roughly 8 AM and noon and will mainly be light snow showers. No more than a very light dusting of accumulation is expected. The second will be in the late afternoon and early evening, when both rain and snow showers will be possible. Winds will remain light with highs around 40 degrees.

Friday

What: Some afternoon rain

A warm front will pass through Friday afternoon with rain. The steadiest and heaviest rain is expected to stay north, but some of the northern half of the region could see a period of steadier showers. The further south, the less rain is expected. Light south winds will be in place, push temperatures into the 40s.

Saturday

What: Clouds, a little sun, and maybe a late shower

How warm it gets Saturday will depend on how quickly morning clouds burn off and how quickly new clouds build in from the west. The more sun, the warmer it should get. Winds will remain light, and may even be mostly calm in the morning. Temperatures could range anywhere from the mid and upper 40s to pushing 60 degrees, so I went with a conservative middle ground in the low 50s for now.

Sunday

What: Some rain and snow showers

A cold front will move through Sunday, leading to some light rain and snow showers during the morning and midday hours. The sun should work out fairly quickly behind the front, ending the day bright. However, north winds will be setting up and will become steady, leading to a midday high in the low 40s and cooler temperatures by the time the sun comes out.

Next Week

Monday will start the week cool, but the rest of the week looks to have near-average temperatures in the upper 30s or low 40s. One or two days could be a bit warmer depending on the track and strength of any passing weather systems. As a whole, though, no major weather systems are expected with the current weather pattern generally expected to persist.
