The weather continues to take steps deeper into Spring and further from Winter. Several arounds of thunderstorms are possible today, with scattered storms also possible this weekend. Cool downs behind passing weather systems will be less cold than they have been.
Tuesday
What: Morning, Late Afternoon/Evening rain and thunderstorms.
Impacts: Localized minor small stream and poor drainage flooding. A few severe storms possible tonight.
There will be two main periods for rain on Tuesday. The first is already passing through the area this morning with thundery downpours. Precipitation should taper off to stray showers for the midday and first half of the afternoon. Later this afternoon, rain and thunder will develop and continue off and on into the evening and overnight. Any thunderstorms the develop will have a potential to become strong to severe. Locally damaging wind gusts are at the primary concern, but hail and even a tornado cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures south of the Thruway will be warm with highs approaching 70 degrees in many areas. North of the Thruway, where a frontal boundary will be stalled out, temperatures will be cooler.

Wednesday
What: Cloudy. A few stray showers.
Northwest winds overnight will push the front south. By Wednesday morning, temperatures will be falling and they should continue to do so into the afternoon. Morning temperatures will see a large gradient from north to south while the afternoon becomes more uniform. Skies will be rather cloudy, though a few glimpses of sun will be possible. Likewise, it will be mostly dry with a few stray showers here or there.
Thursday
What: A few morning showers.
The same front will be lifted back north through the area on Thursday. There is still some uncertainty how far and to what degree warm air enters the region, but highs in the 50s look likely. A few morning showers will accompany the front, but nothing overly heavy. Some breaks of sun will be possible in the afternoon.
Friday and Saturday
What: A few scattered showers, storms.
Warm air will fully move back in by Friday with highs near or above 70 degrees for many areas. Only a few showers or stray thunderstorms are expected and not everyone will see rain.
Saturday will be mostly the same, but probably a degree or two less warm than Friday. Again, a few isolate showers or storms will be possible, but not all areas will see rain.
Easter Sunday
What: Rain highly likely. Falling temperatures.
A strong cold front will move through on Sunday, bringing widespread, potentially heavy rainfall. The timing of the rain remains uncertain. Temperatures will likely be warmer in the morning than the afternoon.
Monday
What: Sunny, cool.
Cool air will settle in on Monday, but instead of highs in the 30s like recent cool-downs, highs will probably remain above 40 degrees. Skies are expected to be sunny.
Later Next Week
Much of next week looks quiet and dry. Temperatures should increase slightly daily, returning to at least the 50s for the latter half of the week and possibly the 60s by the weekend.
