After some widespread rain late Friday, the rest of the weekend will only have small chances for stray showers. Temperatures will remain chilly, though, with nighttime frost likely. Temperatures will turn briefly milder early next week before another period of chilly, unsettled weather late in the week.
Friday
What: Late afternoon rain.
Clear skies overnight have the area off to a sunny and cold start to the day. Clouds are quickly approaching from the west, and before noon, most areas will be locked into mostly cloudy skies. An area of rain will spread across the region from west to east during the second half of the afternoon. Rain will taper off during the evening. Most places will see 0.2 to 0.4 inches of rainfall.
High temperatures will be near 50 or in the low 50s with light winds. Skies will partially or completely clear after midnight, with lows ranging through the low and mid 30s, similar to the last night, with areas of frost.
Saturday
What: A few showers with a little sun in between.
After a little early morning sun, clouds will develop during the morning hours and most of the day will be rather cloudy. There will still be an occasional glimpse of sun here and there. The best chance for a few stray showers will come late in the afternoon. Some areas will not see any rain, and those that do should be limited to brief showers and minimal rain amounts.
Winds will be from the northwest around 10 mph. Afternoon highs will generally not reach 50 degrees, though a few warmer pockets probably will. Saturday night will be similar to the previous two with areas of frost likely as skies turn partly cloudy. Temperatures will probably be a degree or two colder in most areas than the previous two nights.
Sunday
What: Rather cloudy. Small chance for a stray shower.
The chances for rain on Sunday are not zero, but are low enough that vast majority of the region will stay dry all day. Any rain that falls will be very light and brief. Sunshine will still be limited to very early in the day, late in the day, and brief breaks between clouds for most of the time. Winds will increase over Saturday with a few gusts reaching 30 mph, coming in from the northwest. Afternoon highs will be in the low 50s.
Winds will turn to the southwest Sunday night, holding temperatures in the 40s overnight with no risk for frost.
Monday
What: A few showers.
Sunshine should increase for Monday, though it will still be mixing with clouds. Like Sunday, a stray shower cannot be ruled out, but the majority of the area will be dry. Southwest winds will be blustery with gusts to 30 mph, helping temperatures rise into the low 60s.
Tuesday
What: A few showers, storms.
As warmer air continues to push into the region, a few stray showers or storms will be possible. Organized activity looks less likely and many areas will be dry. The morning and midday may have a slightly higher chance for rain or storms than the afternoon, but this remains uncertain. South and southwest winds will continue to be breezy. Afternoon highs will be in the upper half of the 60s and a few places may make a run at 70 degrees. Rain chances will increase Tuesday night.
Wednesday
What: Early rain.
Rain will persist from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The rain will be widespread and potentially heavy, with at least a chance for an inch or more. It is too soon to tell when exactly the rain will taper off on Wednesday, but the afternoon could end up mostly dry. This rain will be associated with a cold front, so temperatures will probably not change much during the day with winds turning northerly.
Late Next Week
Another period of chilly, unsettled weather is expected late next week and into next weekend. Daily chances for stray showers, nighttime frost, and highs struggling to get beyond 50 degrees will all be possible into next weekend. There are hints at the potential for some warmer weather the following week, especially later in the week as we head toward the mid-point of May.
