A slow-moving cold front will move into the region this evening. Out ahead of the front, gusty southwest winds will push temperatures toward 70 degrees with showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. These will transition to periods of steady rain, which will last through midday Wednesday. The rest of the week will have highs mainly in the low and mid 50s with some scattered showers from time to time.

Tuesday

What: Scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Generally dry weather is expected through the early afternoon today, though a stray shower cannot be totally ruled out. Gusty southwest winds will develop this morning, helping push temperatures to near or above 70 degrees by the early afternoon.

During the mid-afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms will start to develop. These should increase into the late afternoon, though there are still some uncertainties on how widespread they will become. Any area of the region may see a shower or storm at any time during the latter half of the afternoon, but the highest chances will gradually shift from northwest to southeast. A couple storms may become strong with some gusty winds. The highest chance for this will be over the northeastern quadrant of the region.

Rain will become more widespread overnight with temperatures falling to the mid 40s as the front moves through.

Wednesday

What: Widespread rain though midday.

The front will be slow to move on Wednesday as low pressure moves along it. Widespread, steady rain is likely through the morning and into the midday hours before tapering off. Most of the afternoon will be dry, though a few stray showers may linger. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, many areas will see between one and one and a half inches of rain, but locally higher amounts are possible. Temperatures will not move much Wednesday, staying in the mid and upper 40s.

Thursday

What: Clouds, some sun.

A dry day is expected on Thursday, though sunshine may be limited. The best chance for some sun will be early and late, but most of the day will be quite cloudy. Morning lows will be in the upper 30s and low 40s. Any frost should be limited to isolated cold pockets, if even that. Afternoon highs will be in the low 50s. Northwest winds will be around 10 mph.

Friday

What: A few showers.

Friday will start with temperatures in the mid and upper 30s, so at least a few frosty pockets will be possible. Clouds will increase and scattered showers will develop. This will not be an all day rain, and some areas may dodge all of the showers and stay dry. Temperatures will be in the low and mid 50s.

Saturday

What: A few showers.

Frost is not expected Saturday morning with south winds taking over, keeping morning lows in the 40s. Afternoon highs will reach the mid and upper 50s. Like Friday, there will be a few showers here and there, but nothing widespread or heavy.

Sunday

What: A few showers.

Temperatures will continue to nudge upward on Sunday with highs around or above 60 degrees. There is a chance for widespread rain in the afternoon, but it may hold off until Sunday night, or it may mostly pass to our south. The uncertainty is too high at this point to nail down which scenario is most likely.

Monday

What: Sun and clouds

While a stray shower cannot be ruled out, at this point, Monday looks mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will get knocked back a bit following Sunday’s system with highs in the 50s.

Next Week

Temperatures through the middle of next week will stay in the 50s, but may start to inch up after that. Scattered showers will continue to be an almost daily occurrence, with some chances for thundery downpours later in the week if temperatures rise.
