There will be a few more scattered rain showers today, but Friday and Saturday will turn out dry. Sunday looks like a washout with rain throughout the day. Much of next week looks dry with just a couple small chances for scattered showers or storms. Temperatures will rise and fall with the passage of these weather systems, but will generally stay within 5 degrees, plus or minus, of the climatological averages.

Thursday
What: A few scattered showers.
A few lingering showers dot the radar this morning but most areas are starting the with some sun poking out between clouds. Sunshine will gradually increase as the day goes on, but a few more showers and possibly a thundery downpour will pop up this afternoon. These will be most likely east of Cayuga Lake and could end up mainly being near or east of I-81. Therefore, most of the region will probably not see additional rainfall today.
Afternoon highs will be in the mid 70s with dewpoints in the low to mid 60s with north-northwest winds around 10 mph.
By this evening, skies should be mostly clear, leading into a slightly cooler nighttime with lows in the mid and upper 50s.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday looks dry across our area with plenty of sunshine and just a few small or thin clouds.
Winds will be from the northwest around or just over 5 mph, turning light and variable late in the day. Afternoon highs will be in the low 80s with dewpoints remaining in the low and mid 60s. Nighttime temperatures will be in the low 60s.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds
The next weather system will begin to approach the region on Saturday with an increase in cloud cover. The sun will still shine, especially in the morning hours. Rain showers are unlikely before sunset and would be limited to the far western Finger Lakes should they arrive a bit early. The chances for rain will increase through the night, however.
Winds will be from the south around 5 mph, helping afternoon highs into the mid 80s. Humidity levels will be moderate with dewpoints in the mid 60s. Overnight lows will drop to the upper 60s.
Sunday
What: Rainy
Rain is likely throughout Sunday, though the fine details still need to be worked out, which means there could be some periods that are less rainy than others. Embedded downpours are possible, which could push localized rain amounts over two inches.
Sunday’s winds will be from the south at around 10 mph most of the day, but will turn to the north with similarly low speeds late following the passage of a cold front. Afternoon highs should be held back into the mid 70s. Humidity levels will come up with mainly upper 60s dewpoints. Nighttime temperatures will be in the mid 60s.
Monday
What: Sun and clouds.
Monday should be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The chance for a couple morning showers cannot be totally discounted yet, but looks unlikely. Light north winds of 5-10 mph are expected with highs in the mid 70s and overnight lows dropping into the 50s.
Tuesday
What: Sun and clouds.
Sunshine and dry weather is expected to continue Tuesday as highs return to the low 80s with dewpoints mainly in the low 60s. Winds will be light and variable, if not calm.
Wednesday
What: A couple showers, storms
Temperatures and humidity will rise on Wednesday with highs making it at least into the mid 80s. Dewpoints will climb to the upper half of the 60s. This will produce an environment favorable for pop-up showers and storms during the afternoon, though there is some inherent uncertainty this far in advance whether there will be any weather feature in place to trigger the storms and take advantage of the favorable environment.
Later Next Week
A warm and humid air mass will likely remain in place late next week. Like Wednesday, the atmosphere will be supportive of showers and storms if there is something present to trigger them. Most of the time may end up dry, but the chance for some showers or storms cannot be dismissed on any given day at this time. Temperatures should retreat some by the following week, likely from a cold front sometime over the weekend.
