After a dry start to the weekend, a slow-moving weather system will begin to spread rain into the area on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms associated with this system will continue early next week with unsettled weather extending even longer.

Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday will be dry across our area with plenty of sunshine and just a few small or thin clouds.
Winds will be from the northwest around or just over 5 mph, turning light and variable late in the day. Afternoon highs will be in the low 80s with dewpoints mainly in the low 60s. Nighttime temperatures will be in the low 60s.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds
The next weather system will begin to approach the region on Saturday with a gradual increase in cloud cover. The sun will still shine, especially in the morning hours. The only chance for rain will be a few isolated pop-up afternoon showers. Most areas should not see any rain, and those that do will only see a brief shower.
Winds will be from the south around 5 mph, helping afternoon highs into the mid 80s. Humidity levels will be moderate with dewpoints in the mid 60s. Overnight lows will only end up around 70 degrees.
Sunday
What: Increasing showers
The incoming weather system is now expected to take longer to reach the Finger Lakes. This means there will be some dry time for the area, and that some pockets of the eastern Finger Lakes may not see much rain at all on Sunday.
Rain will start moving into the western areas through the morning hours, then spreading east during the afternoon. Instead of widespread, steady rain, much of this will be more of the on-and-off variety. A few thundery downpours will be possible, which could still lead to some locally heavy rain amounts.
Sunday’s winds will be from the south at around 10 mph throughout the day with the cold front now unlikely to make it into the area until Monday. Afternoon highs will still be held back into the mid 70s, and humidity levels will come up with upper 60s and low 70s dewpoints. Nighttime temperatures will be in the upper 60s with rain showers continuing.
Monday
What: Showers and storms.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are now expected to persist into Monday. Locally heavy downpours could lead to some localized flooding concern, but severe weather is not expected. The cold front should gradually make its way across the area, turning winds from the south to the north. Temperatures will top out in the mid and upper 70s with dewpoints in the mid and upper 60s.
Tuesday
What: A few showers, storms.
Tuesday’s rain chances will depend on how far south the cold front will make it before stalling out. The southern half of the region, therefore, has the higher chances for rain. This could certainly shift over the coming days. Temperatures will be around 80 degrees, but potentially warmer if the front is further south and sunshine increases.
Wednesday
What: Scattered showers, storms
Another small weather system may pass by on Wednesday, triggering showers and storms. Heavy downpours will be possible. Depending on Sunday-Tuesday turn out, each repeated downpour will bring localized areas higher chances for flooding. This will be something to keep an eye on given the recent heavy rain we have seen already. Temperatures should push into the low 80s with dewpoints rising to the upper 60s and perhaps low 70s.
Thursday
What: A few scattered showers, storms.
Warm and humid air will remain in place for Thursday, potentially leading to at least a few more showers and storms. Any downpours will continue to need monitoring. Uncertainty is high this far out, however.
Next Weekend
While still very uncertain, the atmosphere may become a bit less favorable for heavy downpours by next weekend. There may still be some scattered showers or thunderstorms around, though the uncertainty is high. Temperatures may be a touch cooler, but should still be in the general vicinity they have and will continue to be in.
