A break in the rainy weather is here, but will only last a couple days. Potentially slow-moving thunderstorms Thursday and especially Friday will bring a heavy rain risk as humidity increases late in the week. Showers will persist into the weekend, but there should be a reduction in how much rain falls, even though it will remain warm and muggy.

Tuesday
What: Lots of sun.
High pressure will be in control of the weather on today, bringing sunshine and nearly calm winds. Humidity will be low with dewpoints generally around 60 degrees. Afternoon highs will mainly be in the low 80s. A light south wind will develop Tuesday night, keeping most areas in the 60s.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower or storm.
Skies Wednesday will be a typical summertime mix of sun and clouds. There will be a small chance for a stray shower during the late afternoon across the western half of the region, with a few more stray showers region-wide during the nighttime hours. South winds will remain in place on Wednesday with speeds no higher than 10 mph. Humidity will increase with mid 60s dewpoints, and afternoon highs will push toward the mid 80s. Overnight lows will be in the mid and locally upper 60s.
Thursday
What: Scattered showers and storms.
Rain will return to the area in earnest on Thursday with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy downpours will be the main concern with any storms. The afternoon will be the most favored time for rain, but there could be some stray morning showers as well. It will be humid with dewpoints around 70 degrees. Afternoon highs should make it into the mid 80s. Winds will be light from the southwest around 5 mph.
Friday
What: Scattered showers and storms.
Scattered to numerous showers and storms are likely again on Friday throughout the day but especially in the afternoon. Winds will be light, under 5 mph, which could lead to slow-moving storms. Flooding from heavy, slow-moving downpours will be the main concern for any weather hazards. It will remain very humid with highs in the low 80s.
Saturday
What: Scattered showers, maybe a storm.
Scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will continue to be possible on Saturday. The rain currently does not look as widespread or potentially heavy as Thursday or Friday, but those with outdoor plans will want to continue to monitor the forecast closely. Warm, muggy conditions will persist with highs similar to Friday and only a slight reduction in humidity, if there is a reduction at all. Winds will pick up a bit from the southwest, but will remain under 10 mph.
Sunday
What: A few showers.
Stray showers will be possible on Sunday, though it is still too far out to tell much about the fine details of when, where, and how much may fall. In general, though, it looks even less rainy than Saturday and much less rainy than Thursday or Friday. Dewpoints will remain muggy in the upper half of the 60s with highs generally reaching the mid 80s. Winds will be similar to Saturday.
Monday
What: Perhaps some showers.
Forecast confidence is rather low by Monday. Weather models are hinting at a continuation of some showers, similar to Sunday. The area should be between weather systems, so there is a chance for a mostly or totally dry day. Temperatures and humidity levels will be similar to the previous days.
Next Week
The next weather system should move through sometime Tuesday or perhaps Wednesday next week. The cold front associated with this system will break the warm, humid air and bring in some cooler, more refreshing air for the latter half of next week. Late next week generally looks drier than the preceding week, though a few showers cannot be ruled out, especially this far in advance.
