A couple of weak weather systems will pass through this week with only sporadic, light rain showers. Many areas will not see any rain this week. Even the days when rain is possible, there should be breaks of sunshine. Temperatures will start the week cool with a chance for some patch frost early Tuesday morning. Milder weather will return for the middle of the week with near-average temperatures to end the week. The weekend is looking sunny and seasonable.

Monday
What: A morning shower or two
A pair of subtle cold fronts are moving through the area today, with the first already passing to the east early this morning. The second front will slide through later this morning. Neither front has much in the way of precipitation, and most areas will get through the day dry with mixed skies. Any rain that does fall will be brief and mainly during the morning or midday hours.
With the passage of the second front, wind speeds will strengthen to 15-20 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph. These winds will be from the northwest and will slowly decrease during the later afternoon and evening hours.
Afternoon temperatures will end up in the mid and upper 50s. The wind this evening will slow the fall of the temperature slightly, but winds will continue to decrease overnight. Many areas will eventually end up in the upper 30s with frosty pockets in the mid 30s. Lakeshores will stay near or above 40 degrees. If a gentle breeze remains through the night, it may help prevent frost in more open areas. Still, at least patchy frost in more protected cold pockets will be likely.
Tuesday
What: Sun and a few clouds
Tuesday will be a sunny day with just a few clouds here and there, mainly during the time from the late morning through mid-afternoon. Northwest winds will increase again through the morning, but will stay near 10 mph, peaking during the early afternoon. Later in the afternoon, wind speeds will start to decrease again and the wind direction will become more westerly.
Afternoon highs will reach the mid and upper 50s. Winds will be calm and skies clear early Tuesday evening, but a south wind will pick up, increasing to 5-10 mph overnight. This should prevent any frost from developing Tuesday night with lows mostly staying above 40 degrees.
Wednesday
What: A couple showers
Southerly winds will persist on Wednesday, increasing to 10-15 mph as they turn to a southwest wind. This will push temperatures into the mid and upper 60s during the afternoon. As the warmer air comes in, some clouds will develop and perhaps a few stray showers will become possible. Like today, most areas will not see any rain, and those that do will see minimal amounts. A chance for a stray shower will continue overnight with lows around 50 degrees.
Thursday
What: A couple showers
A weak cold front will slide through on Thursday with a slightly higher, but still small chance for showers. Rain amounts will be minimal and many areas will once again not see any rainfall. There should be some sunshine at times, too. Winds will increase behind the front, turning to the west-northwest at around 15 mph for a couple hours in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low 60s with overnight lows in the mid 40s.
Friday
What:Â Sun and clouds
High pressure will take over behind Thursday’s cold front. Friday will have sunshine and a few clouds with winds remaining out of the west-northwest. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 60s before temperatures drop back to the mid 40s overnight.
Saturday
What: Sunny
Saturday looks bright and sunny. A few small clouds may bubble up for the late morning and afternoon, but skies will generally be sun-filled. Winds will be light and variable early, but will eventually turn to the southeast. Afternoon highs will be in the low 60s with nighttime temperatures in the mid 40s.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds
Sunday also looks quiet with a mix of sun and various cloud types. Winds will be breezy from the south and southwest at around 10 mph, pushing highs to the mid 60s.
Next Week
A higher chance for rain will come toward the middle of next week, and perhaps again next weekend or early the following week. Temperature projections on the models are variable, decreasing overall confidence in the forecast for next week. That being said, milder air is more favored for the first half of the week with some models even showing 70s, while cooler air is more likely late in the week.
