Active, humid weather winds down into the Labor Day weekend

The frontal boundary that has been the focal point for active weather the last few days, including last night’s severe thunderstorm complex, is shifting to the south. This will lead to a gradual reduction in temperature, humidity, and rain chances over the next two days. The holiday weekend may have a couple of stray spits of rain, this time from low pressure north of New England, but most of the time will be dry. A stalled out frontal boundary remains draped over the region with waves of atmospheric energy passing along the front bringing waves of rain and thunder. This pattern will continue today and tomorrow, interacting with a warm and humid air mass. Occasional severe thunderstorms and flash flooding will be possible, especially but not exclusively across the southern half of the region.
