A squall line of severe thunderstorms has developed ahead of a cold front to our southwest this afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the Finger Lakes region and may be extended eastward into the rest of the region later this afternoon.
The thunderstorms will tap into the strong winds already in place over the region and be capable of enhancing them, resulting in scattered damaging winds. An isolated tornado cannot be totally ruled out either, though in the end, the damage risk from any tornado is about the same as it would be from a straight-line wind.
Unfortunately, I am not able to get a better radar shot or graphic than this at this time. This will also be the only update I am able to post this afternoon.
Please take any severe thunderstorm warnings or even tornado warnings seriously this afternoon.
Behind the squall line, the wind should substantially die down.
