Expires: 9 PM
Some late afternoon breaks in the clouds have finally allowed some modest instability to develop over the Finger Lakes region. The cold front is dropping southeast from Canada, providing a trigger for a few late storms moving into the northwestern Finger Lakes.
The window for severe weather will likely be brief as the atmosphere cools toward twilight, so the threat is higher over the northwestern half of the region. I would expect the storms to maintain their current strength for another hour or so, then begin to weaken. There has been no discussion from the SPC about a potential watch and I would not expect one to be issued given the small window of opportunity these storms have.
The severity of these storms will probably be limited to sporadic tree damage.
As always, the latest warnings will be posted automatically through the remainder of the day.
