A line of heavy rain and gusty winds is moving northeast throughthe eastern Finger Lakes mid-morning Wednesday. This line has prompted a special weather statement from the National Weather Service for most of the eastern part of the FLX Weather forecast area.

As this line moves northeast, it will bring a burst of very heavy rain and gusty winds, possibly as high as 40 or 50 mph. This is below severe thunderstorm criteria, but a warning could be issued if this develops further.

Regardless, the very heavy rain and strong winds will at the very least make for a brief period of poor visibility and difficult travel. Be advised if you are in the path of this line and need to be on the road.

This band of rain and wind is about to move into Ithaca at 10:20am.

This line is along the leading edge of a larger area of rain which will overspread the area later this morning and this afternoon.
