Evening Weather Forecast: March 9 Audio Transcript

This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Thursday evening weather forecast update for March 9th, 2017.

Some light precipitation is beginning to break out along the western part of the New York-Pennsylvania state line as a weather system moves in from the Midwest. Some of this light precipitation will work into the southern portions of the Finger Lakes this evening, falling mostly as snow.

However, the vast majority of the precipitation from this system will remain well south of the area over Pennsylvania. The snow here in the Finger Lakes should be limited to a coating at most with up to an inch near the state line.

Outside of any flurries, it will be a cloudy night with temperatures backing into the 20s. The wind has died down but will pick back up for Friday as the storm system strengthens and exits to the east. Temperatures on Friday will rise very little, with most places not getting past 30 degrees.

Some lake effect snow will start to pick up Friday afternoon and evening, so be sure to check back in the morning for all the details on the snow and bitter cold in store for the weekend. Enjoy your evening and have a nice night.
