Trending Warmer, Humid, and Wetter

Our weather this week will start by picking up where the weekend left off.

Monday will end up very similar to Sunday, just a couple degrees warmer and a bit less breezy.

Skies are clear this morning and will remain sunny throughout the day. Like yesterday, some fair weather clouds will bubble up during the midday and afternoon hours.

Temperatures will be near or just above 80 degrees for all but the typically cooler higher elevations. Humidity levels will remain low with dewpoints in the 50s. A gentle northwest wind will rustle leaves but do little else with top gusts around 15 mph.

Some clouds will work in overnight as warmer, more humid air pushes in. A stray shower may even be possible near dawn on Tuesday.

Temperatures will start the day in the 60s and should be quick to warm as sunshine works its way out behind the early morning clouds. Temperatures throughout the Finger Lakes tomorrow should be above 85 degrees, even in higher elevations, with numerous locations hitting 90 degrees.

Dewpoints will climb through the 60s and into the low 70s by the late afternoon, making it feel very muggy. A few isolated showers and storms may pop up in this hot and humid air during the latter half of the afternoon. Many areas will not see rain, but a couple could see a quick downpour.

Either Wet or Hot

Wednesday will have the best chance for rain in the Finger Lakes this week as a front sags south into the region.

Rain is expected to push into the northern Finger Lakes before dawn and overspread much of the northern half of the region during the morning hours.

One question will be how far south the rain comes by the afternoon. If the rain does not push all the way south, afternoon thunderstorms could develop over southern areas.

Either way, most areas should see substantial rain on Wednesday with amounts between one-half (0.5) and one and a half (1.5) inches falling. Temperatures should be held in the 70s by the clouds and rain.

The chances for rain will decrease but not disappear on Thursday. Showers seem more likely early in the day. It will remain humid, and without as many clouds or showers, temperatures should jump back into the low and mid 80s.

Friday then may end up like Tuesday with temperatures approaching 90 degrees across the region. Dewpoints will remain high around 70 degrees. A few afternoon showers or storms may be possible.

Temperatures will remain warm through the weekend with a few small chances for pop-up showers and storms.

With this warm, humid pattern setting up, temperatures will not drop lower than 65-70 degrees from Tuesday morning through the weekend, even at night.
