Unsettled Weather Ahead
An increase in moisture and the arrival of a couple of weather systems will keep the weather active over the next couple of days.
Today is starting off with a mix of sun and thin clouds, but thicker clouds will stream in from the southwest during the morning hours.
The first chances for rain will come in the midday and early afternoon hours as a few stray showers begin to pop up. Additional showers and a couple light thunderstorms will be possible during the mid to late afternoon.
Not all areas will see rain during the daytime hours today. The scattered nature of the showers should mean most areas will be dry for most of the day.
Temperatures will be their warmest during the late morning and midday hours, with northern areas that see the sun longest also seeing the highest temperatures. Mid and upper 70s will be possible near and north of I-90 with upper 60s and low 70s to the south.
During the afternoon, as the clouds become thick and the showers increase, most areas should lose a couple degrees.
Winds will be from the south at 5-10 mph. A few gusts over 20 mph are possible.
Tonight, additional waves of precipitation will move through. These should be more widespread but may contain some localized, brief heavier bursts. The rain is most likely near and after midnight.
Tomorrow morning may end up dry before showers and thunderstorms develop during the afternoon. These storms will be more widespread than today’s activity. A couple strong wind gusts cannot be ruled out, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
High temperatures on Thursday will be in the low to perhaps mid 70s. Dewpoints will be well into the 60s, making it feel rather muggy.
Turning Up the Heat
Friday and Saturday will also have chances for rain, but the activity both days will be much more scattered.
Friday will start off with some sun before fair weather clouds develop and grow into the afternoon. A few isolated to scattered thunderstorms may eventually develop.
Highs Friday will be around 80 degrees with dewpoints in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Saturday will push into the mid 80s with a few stray showers here and there. Dewpoints will remain in the low 60s.
Temperatures will continue to climb on Sunday with many areas above 85 degrees. I suspect a few places will probably reach 90 degrees.
Skies will be sunny with just a few clouds from time to time.
More areas will be near 90 degrees on Monday and probably Tuesday and Wednesday as well. Dewpoints will creep upward through the 60s, making it feel humid in addition to hot.
The heat will break late next week as showers and thunderstorms become likely and a cold front moves through.
