Sunday Noon Updates
Henri, now a weakening Tropical Storm, is set to make landfall shortly near the Rhode Island-Connecticut state line.
This landfall is further east than the projections had for the last several days, which is welcome news for our region.
It appears the models suffered a slight over-correction with the path of Henri over the last several days, when the models shot as far west as near New York City, only to come back to the east. Such an overcorrection is common in the models a few days before coastal winter storms as well.
Henri will travel northeastward inland before turning sharply to the east tomorrow. Rain will spread west, but should not make it to the Finger Lakes.
That being said, showers will develop outside of the main area of rain and will dot our region at times. Already a few stray showers are popping up on radar at noon Sunday, and this will continue through the afternoon and into the evening. Additional showers and storms will also pop-up tomorrow afternoon.
While some localized downpours are likely, they will be brief and should not cause significant problems. This is certainly welcome news for our region.
Behind Henri, Tuesday and Wednesday are looking dry in the Finger Lakes. Late in the week, a front will bring some scattered showers and storms.
It will be a warm week with highs well into the 80s and dewpoints generally above 65 degrees.
