Dreary Weather
The steady rain associated with a slow-moving frontal boundary has meandered to the east, but clouds, some showers, and cool temperatures will linger for a couple more days.
The rain today should be limited to isolated to scattered light rain showers. These will be possible at any time but will be most common during the afternoon hours. Individual showers should be brief, but several showers are possible for most areas throughout the day. A few select locations may manage to sneak through the day without any additional rain.
Outside of the showers, it will be cloudy. The clouds will be low, so some higher elevations may be foggy within the cloud base.
Temperatures will be slow to rise today, reaching a high around 70 degrees. Winds will be out of the northeast and north-northeast at 5-10 mph.
Showers will continue into the evening and overnight hours. After midnight, a band of steadier rain may develop over the southeastern Finger Lakes, possibly including areas such as Elmira, Ithaca, and/or Cortland.
The position and intensity of the band is a bit uncertain, as the band will be fairly narrow. The rain will continue into Wednesday morning before the band dissipates. In its place, more widespread showers will spread across the region.
As has been the case with this pattern, the further south and east, the more rain will fall… while areas north and west will see more sporadic or lighter rain.
Wednesday will be a cool day as well with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. The north and west will be on the warmer side of the range, while the south and east will be cooler.
A few more showers will linger on Thursday, but this should be the least rainy day of the week up to that point. Temperatures will start to climb, with most, if not all, areas back into the low 70s.
Late Week and Weekend Weather
By Friday, the sun should be out in full force. A few stray clouds will be possible. These will mostly be small fair-weather clouds during the afternoon. No rain is expected.
High temperatures on Friday will be into the mid and upper 70s.
Saturday will start with plenty of sun before thin clouds increase during the afternoon. No rain is expected, though. Temperatures will peak, reaching the upper 70s with a few places hitting 80 degrees.
By Sunday, a new system will be slowly moving in from the west. A few showers are possible, but the forecast is trending dryer. If it rains, it will most likely be late in the day over the western areas.
With the increase in clouds, temperatures will be closer to the mid 70s on Sunday.
By Monday, rain is back into the area. It may be another slow-moving, widespread rain, but the details are uncertain at this point. The rain may well last into Tuesday as well.
Blog posts for the rest of the week may be more sporadic or shorter than usual as I take some planned rest, especially as the weather quiets down. Zip-code forecasts for the website and app will be updated as usual. I will be back on my full, normal schedule next week.

How’re you doing, Drew? I noticed no forecast today. Taking a break?
