Severe Thunderstorm Watch

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the entire Finger Lakes region this afternoon.

As of 4:100 PM, there are several strong and severe thunderstorms in the area with several reports of wind damage. There have also been several reports of non-severe hail sent to me.

Storms are moving northeastward. The next 2 hours (4-6 PM) will probably be the bulk of the severe threat across our region, but there is some other activity further southwest over Pennsylvania that will bear watching as well.

Remember… a WATCH is issued for a large area on the timescale of hours to address the *potential* for severe weather. A WARNING is issued for a small area and a short time to address *imminent* severe weather from a specific storm cell.
