Weekend Weather Update
High pressure is in control of the weather Saturday, but a small system will bring a few showers to the area on Sunday.
Thin clouds will gradually build into the Finger Lakes on Saturday. Most of the morning should have a large amount of sunshine. Through the afternoon, this will be filtered by the clouds with decreasing available sunshine.
Temperatures will be mild with highs in the mid and upper 70s. A few urban areas will be around 80 degrees.
Nighttime temperatures will be warmer, mostly sticking to the 50s as clouds continue to thicken.
Dry air will entrench itself over the region, making it difficult for rain to move into the area Sunday. Still, a few scattered showers are expected during the afternoon and evening hours. Not all areas will see rain, though.
Sunday’s temperatures will top out in the mid and upper 70s.
Looking into next week, the best chance for rain will come on Thursday and Friday as a low pressure moves through. Thursday’s rain may come in the form of thunderstorms.
A few stray showers cannot be totally ruled out early in the week, but the majority of the region will stay dry through Wednesday.
Temperatures will warm to a high point on Tuesday in the low 80s, though Monday and Wednesday will not be far behind.
Cooler air will build in late in the week behind the cold front and likely stick around into the following week.
