Cooler and Less Humid
High pressure over the middle of the nation this morning will make its way eastward, keeping our weather quiet for the next few days.
Northwest flow between the incoming high and departing low pressure over far eastern Canada will supply cooler, much less humid air to the region today.
In fact, high temperatures will top out in the mid and upper 70s while dewpoints stick to the 50s. This will be a notable shift in how the air feels, even compared to yesterday, which wasn’t as hot, but was still quite humid.
The northwest winds will not be overly strong today, with speeds up to 10 mph and gusts staying under 25 mph.
Skies will be a mix of sun and some lingering clouds associated with departing low. These clouds will be especially prevalent during the morning and midday hours over the eastern half of the region. Some small fair weather clouds will also mix in region-wide.
Skies will clear tonight and winds will become calm. Widespread overnight lows in the 50s are likely, ranging from the upper 50s north of I-90 to a few pockets of low 50s in the Southern Tier.
Friday will not be too different with a mix of sun and clouds, even lighter northwest winds, and low humidity. Afternoon highs will add a degree or two onto today, with more locations reaching the upper 70s and a few urban areas hitting 80 degrees.
Friday night will also be clear with nearly calm winds. A whisper of a southerly breeze may develop after midnight, leading to lows just a tad higher than the night before. Still, most areas should be in the 50s.

Weekend Weather Forecast & Next Week’s Weather
Saturday will continue to follow suit, with light to nearly calm winds and low humidity.
Temperatures will continue to inch slowly upward and most areas should break into the 80s Saturday afternoon. Urban areas may sneak into the mid 80s.
An area of thin clouds will push into the region from the south, filtering the sunshine. It will likely be one of those days where clouds fill the sky, but only block out the sun to some degree.
These clouds will be associated with a frontal boundary that is expected to stall out from northeast to southwest, running from New England into the Mid Atlantic.
A secondary weak frontal boundary will drop south out of Canada toward our area later Sunday. This may lead to a little extra cloudiness late Sunday, but most of the day will have sun and some fair weather clouds.
While quite unlikely, there is a small chance for a stray spit of rain late Sunday or Sunday evening. Any rain that falls would likely not be enough to wet the pavement completely.
High temperatures on Sunday will again be in the low and mid 80s.
Most areas should be in the mid 80s on Monday, with dewpoints inching up toward the low 60s. Winds will continue to be nearly calm with a mix of sun and clouds.
The dry weather will likely end by Tuesday, when some showers and thunderstorms will be possible. Lingering showers are likely on Wednesday, followed by the chance for continued unsettled weather through the end of next week.
Temperatures should retreat slightly for the middle and end of next week but will return to the mid 80s next weekend.
