Weekend Weather Forecast
High pressure will pass overhead this weekend, keeping our weather sunny and dry.
As of Friday morning, the center of the high pressure was located over Michigan.
With the center to our west, north and northwest winds will persist today. The wind will be lighter than yesterday, however.
Small fair-weather clouds will mix with the sunshine during the daytime heating hours today.
Humidity levels will remain low with dewpoints in the 50s. Afternoon highs will mainly be in the upper 70s, with some slightly warmer and slightly cooler areas, as usual.
It will be another comfortable night tonight with clear skies and calm winds. Temperatures will drop to the low 50s across the southern half of the region and into the mid 50s across the north.
Saturday will have ample sunshine, light and variable winds, and continued low humidity as the center of high pressure passes overhead.
Without a north wind to keep temperatures down, most areas should jump up several degrees for a high in the low and mid 80s.
The high will slide east Saturday night, allowing a light south wind to gradually develop. Temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 50s across the south and the low 60s to the north.
Mostly sunny skies Sunday will mix with a few late thin clouds. The light south winds will bring temperatures up with highs averaging in the upper 80s. Higher elevations will be in the mid 80s, but the typically warmer valley and urban locations will push 90 degrees.
Dewpoints on Sunday will still mainly stick to the 50s.
Weather Next Week
The weather next week as a whole is looking warm and muggy with several chances for rain.
Monday will be the warmest of the day as southwest winds continue to push heat and moisture toward the region.
Look for afternoon highs around 90 degrees with dewpoints rising into the 60s. No rain is expected during the daytime hours, but a stray shower overnight cannot be ruled out.
Scattered showers and storms will become likely on Tuesday, though the details of the timing and coverage of the precipitation remain unclear this far in advance.
Tuesday will see highs in the mid 80s with dewpoints well into the 60s.
Showers and some thunderstorms will continue to be likely into Wednesday. Temperatures will again be in the mid 80s with dewpoints at least in the upper half of the 60s.
Stray showers may linger into Thursday, but as a whole, it looks more dry than Tuesday and Wednesday at this time.
Rain chances are uncertain into next weekend, but with heat and humidity sticking around, there may be at least a few pop-up showers or storms to dodge.
Temperatures will continue to be at least in the mid 80s. Any day where rain is less common or not expected could see highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.
Humidity levels will remain high through the end of the week and into next weekend.
No significant changes are hinted at on the models for the following week, either.
