Warm Weather

Following the passing of a warm front late Tuesday, warm air has surged into the Finger Lakes region.

Most areas are starting the day in the 50s, though a few cooler pockets still linger.

Ample sunshine this morning and a steady south and southwest wind will help temperature shoot up. Wind speeds will be up to, but mostly just under 10 mph.

Afternoon highs will be well above 70 degrees throughout the region with a few warmer pockets getting all the way into the upper 70s.

Thin clouds will gradually increase throughout the day, filtering the sunshine at times this afternoon. No rain will fall, though.

Steady winds and occasional clouds overnight will hold temperatures in the 50s. A few areas around Rochester may not drop below 60 degrees.

Thursday will not be much different than today. Sunshine will mix with varying degrees of cloudiness, but no rain will fall during the daytime or early evening hours.

Temperatures will be nearly the same as today, with highs mainly ranging through the mid 70s.

Southwest winds will also continue to blow at around 10 mph.

It will be all treats and no tricks for the evening Halloween festivities with temperatures holding in the upper 60s. Rain showers will hold off until near or after midnight as a cold front moves through.

Brief Weekend Cooldown

Temperatures will begin to drop after midnight as the front clears the region. But, by sunrise Friday, it will still be in the upper 50s for many areas.

Stray showers will continue throughout Friday, but most of the time it will be dry.

Temperatures will slowly fall through the 50s during the day on Friday.

Blustery west winds will blow with gusts as high as 35 mph. The strongest winds will be found along the shore of Lake Ontario and west of Canandaigua Lake.

The wind will turn to the northwest Friday night with speeds gradually falling. Temperatures will be driven into the 30s by Saturday morning.

Clouds will be replaced by sunshine on Saturday, but highs will only be around 50 degrees. Winds will be light, but still from the northwest.

Clear skies and calming winds Saturday night will lead to a frosty Sunday morning with low 30s and pockets of 20s. But temperatures will bounce back to the mid 50s Sunday afternoon.

Skies on Sunday will be sunny to start, but clouds will increase during the afternoon.

Rain, however, should hold off until Monday. Much of the day looks at least showery. This rain will be associated with another warm front with highs jumping at least into the mid and upper 60s for Tuesday.

Warm temperatures may linger into Wednesday next week before going through another cool cycle late in the week.

Beyond that, the spread of possibilities showing on the model is too broad to draw any firm conclusions about what may be most likely.
