Temperatures stabilize at seasonable levels

Late Week Weather

The up and down weather pattern of the last few weeks will settle down with seasonable temperatures for the foreseeable future.

A cold front late yesterday ushered in cooler temperatures for today, and several more upcoming fronts will keep temperatures in check.

For today, morning clouds and a few stray spits of lingering rain will gradually give way to sunnier skies this morning. How much sun comes out before it sets will vary from place to place.

Light northwest winds behind the front will hold temperatures to the mid 50s this afternoon.

Mainly clear skies are expected tonight with lows retreating to the upper 30s and low 40s. It would probably get cooler, but a southwest wind will develop, keeping it milder.

Friday will go from sunny in the morning to cloudier in the afternoon. A cold front will drop southeast late, possibly triggering a few rain showers, especially over the eastern half of the region.

Temperatures will be similar to today, likely besting today’s mark by a degree or two.

Winds will be blustery as they turn from the southwest to the west and eventually northwest. The strongest winds will be in the early afternoon, when they may briefly exceed 15 mph with gusts around 35 mph.

Skies will clear again Friday night with steady northwest and north winds. Overnight lows will be down into the low and mid 30s.

Weekend, Next Week’s Weather

Saturday will be a quiet day as high pressure passes directly overhead. Skies will be sunny and winds will be much lighter than on Friday.

What remaining wind there is will still be from the north, resulting in highs mainly in the mid to locally upper 40s.

As high pressure passes east Saturday evening, a southerly return flow on its backside will develop. This will counterbalance the clear skies, resulting in near-average nighttime temperatures in the low and mid 30s.

Clouds will gradually increase on Sunday with a few late day showers possible. Highs will get a small boost from the continued southerly winds, topping out in the low and mid 50s.

Showers will be common Sunday night with temperatures sticking to the mid 40s. Monday will see a few lingering showers early, and possibly some sunshine toward the afternoon.

Tuesday will be another cool day, like Saturday, with morning clouds and afternoon sun, and highs in the mid 40s.

Wednesday will be flipped, with morning sun and afternoon clouds. Temperatures will be a bit warmer, topping out near 50 degrees.

Rain is expected to close out next week with more unsettled weather the following week. Temperatures should generally stay in the upper half of the 40s and lower half of the 50s, though there may be some slight deviations from the range depending on how individual weather systems evolve.

2025 Calendar Update

Unfortunately, I am not able to offer a calendar for 2025. There were several factors that went into this decision, many of them beyond my control. Technological issues and high costs were among the chief reasons.

I know this is disappointing for you, as it is for me. I had high hopes for this year and had already put a lot of work into another great calendar. But, that will give me a head start on hopefully bringing the calendar back for 2026.

The calendar sales have paid for many of the expenses directly related to running FLX Weather over the last two years. This includes basics like web hosting and subscriptions to various aspects of the website, but also more specialized subscriptions like access to model data.

Without the calendar sales, 2025 remains unfunded. This will make it even more difficult for me to do my work producing the weather forecasts you rely on, especially during active and hazardous weather.

If you are able to make a one-time donation, or even better a monthly contribution, please consider doing so to secure the funding necessary for another year. Thank you for your consideration, generosity, and support.
