Mid-Week Mild Weather
A mild weather pattern will remain in place for the next few days with on and off bouts of showery conditions.
One such batch of showers has already begun moving through the region this morning. The rain is scattered, but more is on the way. On and off light rain will likely continue through the morning and midday hours before tapering off.
Where there is exposed ice, expect very slick conditions with the rain sitting on top of the ice. Use caution when walking on these surfaces.
Clouds may break up later this afternoon, ending the day with a little sunshine for some areas. There is even a chance for some widespread, mostly sunny skies for a brief time.
Winds will be light today, mainly coming in from the west. Temperatures will stick to the low and mid 40s with a few hilltops in the upper 30s.
Mainly quiet conditions are expected tonight, though a stray flurry or bit of drizzle cannot be ruled out. Overnight temperatures will be in the low and mid 30s.
Any early sun Wednesday morning will be replaced by increasing and thickening clouds as the next bath of precipitation approaches. This should arrive toward sunset, mostly falling as rain but with some areas of snow mixing in.
High temperatures on Wednesday will be around 40 degrees. After an initial dip in the evening, nighttime temperatures will rise back to the upper 30s by Thursday morning.
Winds will remain light, coming from the northwest during the day and the south by evening.
Additional rain showers are likely on Thursday, especially toward the middle of the day as a cold front approaches. There may be a few snow flakes mixing in by the evening hours with snow becoming the dominant precipitation type overnight.
Temperatures will top out in the mid 40s with steady south winds turning westerly in the afternoon.

Cooler, Still Unsettled
As mentioned above, snow showers will become likely Thursday night as some lake effect snow kicks up in the wake of the cold front. Flurries will persist into early Friday before tapering off.
It is not certain at this point how well organized the lake effect will become, but in general it does not look like it will cause many travel concerns.
Northwest winds will be blustery through the morning with gusts over 30 mph. The wind will quickly lessen in the afternoon, swinging around to the southeast by the late afternoon.
Friday will be a cooler day with temperatures in the mid and upper 20s throughout the day. However, Friday night, temperatures will be on the rise again and should reach the mid 30s by Saturday morning.
Rain and snow showers are likely on Saturday as the next system swings through. Temperatures may not get much higher than their morning mid 30s with a cold front knocking temperatures down later in the afternoon.
Winds will be breezy on Saturday from the south but will increase a bit further Saturday night into Sunday after turning back to the northwest. Gusts over 30 mph are likely.
These winds will bring in cold air with low 10s Saturday night and highs Sunday in the low 20s.
Another round of lake effect snow will likely result southeast of Lake Ontario with a better chance for accumulations than Thursday night’s lake effect.
Sunday night will also be chilly with lows well into the 10s or even single digits, but then winds will turn back to the south and highs Monday will be near 30 degrees. Monday at this time looks dry with sun and clouds.
Temperatures will continue to make a quick turn around with highs into the 40s on Tuesday and possibly nearing 50 degrees by next Wednesday.
The warm up will be facilitated by a weather system that will bring cooler air back in after Wednesday, though it does not look too cold and temperatures may be quick to warm up again thereafter.
