Gusty Winds
Temperatures will continue their warming trend today, but will begin to fall tomorrow.
The changing temperatures are the result of a low pressure system that will pass through the region today and tonight.
Rain will increase across the region this morning and will continue through the afternoon. While it may not be raining the whole time, it will rain plenty of it and there may be periods where it rains for a few hours steadily.
South winds will also increase this morning and remain blustery through the afternoon. Top gusts will be over higher elevations and could approach 50 mph. Lower elevations will see gusts in the 35-45 mph range.
Temperatures will peak in the 50s this afternoon with most areas in the mid 50s. Evening temperatures will remain in the low 50s with a steadier drop to near 40 degrees by sunrise.
The rain this evening will be more scattered and should mostly end for a time. A couple rumbles of thunder will be possible this evening. There will also be a brief break in the gusty winds overnight.
Thursday morning will be mainly quiet, with just a few spits of rain or snow. Snow showers will increase during the afternoon as temperatures drop to the mid 30s.
Wind speeds will increase late in the day, coming from the west and northwest, with gusts near 40 mph again.
There may be a few areas of light lake effect snow Thursday night with temperatures falling to the mid 20s. Accumulations Thursday afternoon and evening will mainly be near or under an inch, with northern areas the more likely areas to see any accumulation whatsoever.
Friday and Saturday will each have their own gusty winds as well. Friday’s gusts will be as high as 45 mph, while Saturday’s will peak just under 40 mph. Both days will have northwest winds.

Cooler, then Warmer Again
Not surprisingly, with steady northwest winds, temperatures will stay on the cooler side through the weekend.
Scattered snow showers will accompany the wind on Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. These snow showers will linger into early Saturday morning before tapering off.
A few localized locations may see some light accumulations, but most areas will see no more than a light coating.
Temperatures will start Friday and Saturday in the mid 20s. Friday will have a high in the upper 30s, while Saturday tops out in the low 30s.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with lighter winds at last. Temperatures will again start in the mid 20s with a high in the mid 30s.
Some snow showers or some mixed precipitation may be possible Sunday night with temperatures again in the mid 20s.
These will likely clear out by Monday morning with some increasing sun during the afternoon. Warm air will start to make its return with highs in the mid 40s.
Most of next week is looking warm with a good chance for multiple days at least in the 50s. And, unlike today, this warm weather may be accompanied by dry weather and sunshine, at least early on in the warm up.
Eventually, later in the week, a cold front will move through with some precipitation and slightly cooler temperatures.
