First Warm Up
A sunny, mild day is expected today across the Finger Lakes, but it will not be the only day of its kind this week.
Skies are clear throughout the region this morning and will remain as such throughout the day. Even small, thin clouds will be hard to come by.
Winds will be light today with varying directions throughout the day. At times, the wind may simply just be calm.
Afternoon highs will push into the 50s for most areas. Upper 50s or even a couple 60 degree readings are expected through the valleys of the Southern Tier.
Low and mid 50s will extend across the rest of the region with a few upper 40s right along the Lake Ontario shoreline and in a few of the hilltops across Central New York.
South winds will increase overnight with a few thin clouds after midnight. Tuesday should start out with a mix of plenty of sun and a few clouds with temperatures in the low 40s.
Skies will remain sunny with some clouds mixing in throughout Tuesday. A few stray spits of rain late in the day will be possible as a front slides through.
The south winds will occasionally gust near or over 30 mph on Tuesday, turning to the northwest late in the day.
Highs will be into the 60s for most with upper 50s in some higher elevations and along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
The late day front will bring in cooler air with nighttime temperatures dipping back into the 20s. Wednesday will see highs in the low and mid 40s.

Second Warm Up
Late Wednesday, a warm front will move through the area. Scattered showers with some snow mixing in will be possible from the late afternoon into the evening hours.
The precipitation should be long gone by Thursday morning, with temperatures starting in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs should make it into the low 50s with typically cooler areas in the upper 40s.
There will be some sun on Thursday, but it will have to fight through plenty of cloud cover, too.
Winds both Wednesday and Thursday will be light.
By Friday, a steady south wind will redevelop, pushing highs back toward or into the 60s. Expect more sun than on Thursday, but not quite as much as today.
The weather by the weekend is a bit less certain, but warm temperatures should persist.
Eventually, a cold front will move through on Sunday with rain, wind, and perhaps some thunderstorms.
Temperatures will take a dip next week behind this system, but it will be a Spring dip, not a Winter one. Most days should still have highs at least in the 40s, with a couple 50-degree days potentially mixing in.

My guess at this point is from Thursday night – Friday morning it will be mainly cloudy in our area for viewing – photographing the eclipse? Maybe able to catch it between passing clouds?? Unfortunately, that also means pulling an ‘all-nighter’ on a school night waiting for those moments…lol. Your thoughts?

Models are mixed on the cloud cover for that time, so it is still too uncertain to make a call right now.
