End of Week Weather
Active weather will continue through this weekend as a series of low pressure systems pass by the region.
There are a few showers scattered about this morning, mainly over the eastern Finger Lakes. These are departing the area quickly, though, as the system that brought last night’s rain dissolves.
Skies will remain cloudy through the morning, but some breaks of sun between clouds are expected this afternoon.
Temperatures will rise to near or slightly above 70 degrees for most areas, aided by southerly and westerly winds.
This will help support some additional pop-up showers this afternoon. The rain will remain scattered, and individual showers should not last too long. Many places will see at least a little rain, though.
The showers will taper off during the evening with partly cloudy skies overnight. Most areas should stay in the 50s tonight.
Friday will start with some sun poking out between passing clouds. Over time, the cloud should become more widespread and thicker, making for a mostly cloudy afternoon.
A stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out, especially across the eastern Finger Lakes, but the vast majority of the area should remain dry.
Winds Friday will start from the west and even southwest, but most of the day will be from the northwest. Wind speeds should not exceed 10 mph.
Nonetheless, temperatures will add another degree or two on to today’s highs with most areas in the low or even mid 70s.

Showery Weekend Weather, Then Drying Out
Saturday’s weather looks active as a low pressure drop southeast from Canada and a second develops along the New England coast.
Steady rain is expected to remain to our east, but numerous showers will likely pop up on Saturday.
That being said, there is a small chance that the rain showers will be more limited than currently expected, either being constrained to one part of the day, or simply not becoming as numerous. This remains an outlier scenario, but one to watch and consider.
Temperatures will take a dip on Saturday as gusty northwest winds develop in response to the coastal low strengthening. Winds will be strongest in the afternoon with speeds of 15 mph and gusts to 30 mph.
Afternoon highs as a whole will only be around 60 degrees, meaning typically cooler areas will probably not escape the upper 50s.
Scattered showers are likely to persist into Sunday, though they will likely be less numerous than on Saturday. There may even be some breaks of sun later in the day.
Northwest winds will remain, matching the speeds and gusts of Saturday. Temperatures will be no warmer, either, with similar highs in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Partly cloudy skies are expected Sunday night, which could lead to some isolated cold pockets slipping toward the upper 30s. Most areas should remain in the low 40s.
Monday will also be partly cloudy with no precipitation expected. Temperatures will start to rise with highs in the upper 60s.
Much warmer air will quickly move in for the middle of next week, aided by mostly sunny skies. Highs Tuesday should be in the mid 70s while Wednesday has a good shot at approaching or getting above 80 degrees.
Late next week, increasing humidity will support scattered showers and storms with highs remaining well into the 70s.
