It remains very warm and muggy across the region ahead of the front. This airmass will remain in place through the morning hours before a gradual change this afternoon.

Scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm will be possible throughout the day ahead of, along, and behind the front. The highest chance for rain will be during the early and mid afternoon.

That being said, most areas will be dry most of the time.

As the front passes, winds will turn from the south and southwest to a more westerly direction. Wind speeds will increase as well, possibly approaching 20 mph for some areas west of Seneca Lake. Wind gusts of 30-40 mph are likely throughout the region.

Temperatures will peak in the mid 80s today with the usual warmer and cooler pockets. Dewpoints will be in the low 70s, but will slowly drop later this afternoon.

Skies will remain rather cloudy, but some clearing will be possible late. Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies are likely overnight and into early Friday. Overnight lows will be around 60 degrees.

Friday will be dominated by sunshine with light north winds. Highs will be in the mid 70s with comfortable dewpoints in the 50s.

Most areas should drop back into the 50s Friday night, though a light south wind will develop after midnight, putting a limit on how cool it will get.

Weekend Cold Front

The weather pattern will nearly repeat itself Saturday-Monday with another low pressure developing over southern Canada, pulling another cold front through the region.

Saturday will see highs returning to the low 80s as south winds bring in warmer, muggier air ahead of this second low pressure system.

Most of the day will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Late in the afternoon and into the evening, however, thunderstorms will develop. Heavy rain will likely be the primary threat from these storms, and there could be some localized flash flooding once again.

Scattered showers will linger overnight and into Sunday. Rain chances will be higher in the morning, but may not completely dissipate even in the afternoon.

Northwest winds will take hold by Sunday. It will be breezy, but not as much as today. Expect highs in the upper 70s.

Temperatures should start out in the 50s for Monday and Tuesday with a dry air mass in place. Afternoon highs Monday will be in the mid 70s while Tuesday should return to the 80s. Both days will have a mix of sun and clouds.

Dry weather should extend into Wednesday with temperatures continuing to inch upward. Late next week looks warm, humid, and unsettled. By the weekend, quieter and cooler weather should return.
