Weekend Weather Forecast
High pressure moved over the region last night, leading to a cold, frosty morning.
The high will continue to move eastward today and will be out over the Atlantic by this evening.
Skies will be sunny for most of the day before some thin clouds work in later this afternoon. These clouds will be out ahead of a small area of low pressure moving across the Upper Great Lakes.
South winds between the high and low will increase to slightly over 10 mph today, helping temperatures bounce back from the cool start. Most areas will be at or above 60 degrees, though some hilly areas will stay in the upper 50s.
Scattered rain showers will move into western New York tonight and spread into the western half of the Finger Lakes overnight and into Saturday morning. Most of this rain should stay west of Seneca Lake and should be light.
Elsewhere, skies will be mixed tonight into Saturday morning with overnight lows mainly in the low and mid 40s. Afternoon highs will rise into the mid 60s for most areas.
A second low pressure system will take shape along the coast of the Carolinas on Saturday, and by the late afternoon and evening hours, the two lows will start to interact.
Rain showers will increase across the eastern half of the region during the second half of the afternoon and become steadier into the evening hours. This area of rain will not move much overnight but should gradually dissipate instead.
A relatively narrow band of heavy rain may develop with localized amounts over an inch possible, mainly east of Seneca Lake. The exact location of this band, or even if it becomes fully realized, is still quite uncertain.
Showers will linger into Sunday morning but should dissipate as they move westward across the region. A few showers may linger into Sunday afternoon, mainly over the western Southern Tier. Some sun should poke out between clouds once the rain ends in a given area.
Temperatures on Sunday will start out between 45-50 degrees, and afternoon highs will mainly be in the mid 60s. Winds through the weekend will generally be easterly at 5-10 mph, though there may be some fluctuations from time to time.

Weather Next Week
On Monday, the coastal low will be off the coast of New Jersey, while high pressure stretches from northern New England back into the Great Lakes.
This setup should keep us just west of the area of influence from the low. As long as this holds true, we should be dry on Monday with sun and some thin clouds.
Winds will turn to the northeast, which should cause highs to back off slightly to somewhere around 60 degrees. If this whole setup shifts further west, it may be cooler, but if it shifts further east, it could be warmer.
Tuesday will be similar, with the coastal low still lurking just far enough away to keep us dry and sunny. Temperatures will be in the same neighborhood as on Monday.
A cold front will pass through on Wednesday with some scattered, light rain showers. North-northwest winds will set up and become blustery, continuing into Thursday. This should limit highs to the 50s for a couple days.
The weather beyond that becomes very uncertain with widespread possibilities showing on the weather models.
