Quiet Weather
A large area of high pressure has built into the region and will stick around for the next few days.
<!–more–>
The center of the high is still to our west over the Upper Great Lakes. This will bring us another cool, breezy day today.
North-northwest winds will be similar to yesterday with speeds around 15 mph and gusts of 25-35 mph.
These winds will hold temperatures down, despite mostly sunny skies. Higher elevations will stick to the low 50s while most other areas see mid 50s.
There will be just a few clouds drifting through from time to time today, doing little to filter the sunshine.
Another cold night is ahead tonight with widespread frost and freeze conditions expected. Even most lakeshore areas should see mid 30s, while the typically cooler areas see low 30s with pockets of upper 20s. As a whole, it should be a few degrees colder tonight than it was this morning.
The north-northwest wind will persist through Friday as well, but with lighter speeds near or under 10 mph.
Afternoon highs on Friday may be a degree or two warmer than today, but still generally in the low and mid 50s.
There will be more clouds tomorrow, but still plenty of sunshine as well.
Winds will turn to the south Friday night with temperatures bottoming out shortly after midnight, then rising a couple degrees by sunrise. By then, most areas should be in the low to mid 40s, though some southeastern areas may still be in the upper 30s.
A stray shower cannot be ruled out Friday night as the warmer air pushes in. These will be most likely west of Canandaigua Lake and near the shore of Lake Ontario.
Saturday will remain dry but with more clouds than sun. South winds up to 10 mph will push temperatures up, with highs nearing 70 degrees in the far west and in the upper and mid 60s for most of the rest of the region.

Turning Unsettled
A series of low pressure systems will impact our region starting late Sunday and persisting for much of next week.
Sunday itself should stay dry until some rain starts to move into western areas late in the afternoon.
There is still some uncertainty with how quickly the rain moves in, though, so it may hold off until overnight altogether, or make it further east during the daytime hours than currently expected.
Southerly winds will be blustery on Sunday with speeds over 15 mph and gusts approaching 40 mph. Temperatures will respond by topping out around 70 degrees.
Monday looks rainy with a few areas of heavy rain possible. The exact position and strength of the low will determine how much rain falls, and so far, the weather models are very inconsistent with this. However, there is a chance that some select areas could see as much as 2-4 inches of rainfall.
With the rain, temperatures will most likely be in the upper 50s.
Just a few showers are expected on Tuesday with highs temporarily returning to the low 60s. The next system may arrive on Wednesday, however.
Late next week, temperatures will hold in the 50s with occasional rain showers. This weather should persist into the weekend as well.
There are some hints on the models that mild weather may try to return for the end of October, keeping in mind that “mild” for that time of the year means highs possibly reaching the 60s.
