An arctic cold front will slowly approach the region, leading to some widespread snow Friday afternoon and evening before finally moving through overnight with a rapid increase in wind and decrease in temperature.

Snow with strong squalls near the cold front. Lake effect develops immediately behind the front. An inch or two of accumulation for the evening and overnight with slightly more north of the Thruway. Poor travel conditions.
